Are your child's eyes ready for school?

Studies have shown that children's educational performance can be seriously affected by sight problems -a quick check will ensure that your child's eyes are in perfect health ready to meet all the academic and sporting challenges of the year ahead. Kodak Lens Vision Centres invite all parents to bring their children in for a FREE eye test and glasses (if needed) at any time.

The quality and quantity of vision screening in schools varies hugely, with many performing no screening at all. It seems that many parents are unaware of this and neglect to visit the optician, even though children are entitled to FREE eye checks up to the age of 16 (or 19 if in full time education)* and many KODAK Lenses for Kidz glasses are also FREE**.

Children learn from what they see, whether that means looking at the blackboard, computer screen, or reading. A visit to the optician can help detect any problems early on, which means there is a better chance of correcting them. Having good eye sight can aid development, improve schoolwork and sporting ability.

Watch your children for the following signs:

  • Frequent rubbing of the eyes
  • Discomfort in bright light
  • Headaches or eye-strain
  • Blurred or double vision
  • Watery eyes
  • Holding books very close when reading
  • Clumsiness
  • Trouble identifying colours
  • Frequent blinking
  • Screwing up eyes

Kodak Lens Vision Centres make a visit to the optician fun and offer parents loads of advice and information. The Kodak Lens Kidz range includes 36 funky frames in different colours and sizes. In addition, Kodak Tuff Lenses are the strongest lenses available, making them perfect for even the most active child.

*Children's eye tests are available at all KODAK Lens Vision Centres and are free under the NHS.
**The NHS provides vouchers towards the cost of glasses; these fully cover the cost of many KODAK Lenses for Kidz spectacles.
